Graphite. Types, marks and general technical requirements

(in Russian – ГОСТ 17022-81 Графит. Типы, марки и общие технические требования)

This standard applies to graphite obtained from graphite ores and waste from metallurgical and other industries and establishes types, grades, general technical requirements.

Depending on the mineralogical type and type of consumption, graphite is produced in the following grades:

Special graphite with low ash content (in Russian – Графит специальный малозольный)
(mineralogical type – crystalline)
Marks:
GSM-1 (ГСМ-1), GSM-2 (ГСМ-2) (for export and production of special purpose products).

Graphite for the preparation of alcaline accumulator active mass (in Russian – Графит аккумуляторный)
(mineralogical type – crystalline)
Marks:
GAK-1 (ГАК-1) (for battery products for special purposes).
GAK-2 (ГАК-2) (for the manufacture of active masses and alkaline batteries, and masses for graphitized antifriction products from non-ferrous metals).
GAK-3 (ГАК-3) (for the manufacture of masses for graphitized antifriction products from non-ferrous metals).

Graphite for manufacture of slate-pencils (in Russian – Графит карандашный)
(mineralogical type – crystalline)
Marks:
GK-1 (ГК-1) (for drawing and stationery pencils).
GK-2 (ГК-2), GK-3 (ГК-3) (for stationery, school and copy group pencils).

Graphite of lubricants (in Russian – Графит смазочный)
(mineralogical type – crystalline)
Marks:
GS-1 (ГС-1) (for antifriction components in solid lubricating coatings in the manufacture of nuclear reactors, spacecraft mechanisms, aircrafts, as well as for colloidal graphite preparations).
GS-2 (ГС-2), GS-3 (ГС-3) (as an ingredient in electrically conductive rubber, powder metallurgy products, graphite grease sticks and pastes, electrically conductive polymer films).
GS-4 (ГС-4) (for the manufacture of greases for open gears of rolling mills, car springs and other highly loaded friction units).
P (П) (for production of special purpose products).

Graphite for production of electrocarbon products (in Russian – Графит электроугольный)
(mineralogical type – crystalline)
Marks:
EUZ-M (ЭУЗ-М), EUZ-II (ЭУЗ-II), EUZ-III (ЭУЗ-III), EUT-I (ЭУТ-I), EUT-II (ЭУТ-II), EUT-III (ЭУТ-III) (for the production of electric carbon products).

(mineralogical type – cryptocrystalline)
Marks:
EUN (ЭУН) (for the production of electric carbon products).

Crucible graphite (in Russian – Графит тигельный)
(mineralogical type – crystalline)
Marks:
GT-1 (ГТ-1), GT-2 (ГТ-2), GT-3 (ГТ-3) (for the manufacture of refractory graphite-ceramic products).

Crystal graphite for foundry purposes (in Russian – Графит литейный)
(mineralogical type – crystalline)
Marks:
GL-1 (ГЛ-1) (for dusting the working surfaces of molds and cores when obtaining castings of complex configuration that require a particularly clean surface).
GL-2 (ГЛ-2) (for dusting the working surfaces of molds and cores when obtaining castings of medium complexity).
GL-3 (ГЛ-3) (for dusting when obtaining castings that do not require high surface cleanliness).

Cryptocrystalline graphite (in Russian – Графит литейный)
(mineralogical type – cryptocrystalline)
Marks:
GLS-1 (ГЛС-1), GLS-2 (ГЛС-2), GLS-3 (ГЛС-3) (for the manufacture of non-stick coatings in the production of castings).
GLS-4 (ШЛС-4) (for metallurgical production).
