This standard applies to crystalline graphite obtained by separate or joint enrichment of natural graphite ores and graphite-containing wastes of metallurgical production, followed by chemical post-treatment, intended for export and for the production of special-purpose items.

Graphite should be produced in the following grades:

Graphite GSM-1 (ГСМ-1)

Ash content, %, not more than = 0.1
Moisture content, %, not more than = 0.2
The release of volatile substances, including from flotation reagents, %, not more than = 0.2
The residue on the sieve No. 02, %, not less than = 70

Graphite GSM-2 (ГСМ-2)

Ash content, %, not more than = 0.5
Moisture content, %, not more than = 0.2
The release of volatile substances, including from flotation reagents, %, not more than = 0.2
The residue on the sieve No. 02, %, not less = not standardized

Note: it is allowed, upon agreement between the consumer and the manufacturer, to produce graphite of the GSM-2 (ГСМ-2) grade with the residue on the the sieve No. 02 of at least 60 %.
