The standard applies to crystalline graphite obtained by separate or joint enrichment of natural graphite ores and graphite-containing wastes of metallurgical production, intended for the manufacture of active masses of alkaline batteries and masses for graphitized antifriction products from non-ferrous metals.

Graphite should be produced in the following grades in accordance with GOST 17022-81:

GAK-1 (ГАК-1) – for the special purpose battery products.

Ash content, %, not more than = 0.5
Moisture content, %, not more than = 1.0
Iron content, %, not more than = 0.15
Chlorine ions, %, not more than = 0.1
The concentration of hydrogen ions in the water extract, pH = 6.5 – 9.0
The residue on the sieve, %:
– No. 016 K, not more than = 50
– No. 0063 K = 90 – 50

GAK-2 (ГАК-2) – for the manufacture of active masses of alkaline batteries and masses of graphitized antifriction products from non-ferrous metals.

Ash content, %, not more than = 1.0
Moisture content, %, not more than = 1.0
Iron content, %, not more than = 0.5
Chlorine ions, %, not more than = 0.1
The concentration of hydrogen ions in the water extract, pH = 6.5 – 9.0
The residue on the sieve, %:
– No. 016 K, not more than = 50
– No. 0063 K = 90 – 60

GAK-3 (ГАК-3) – for the manufacture of masses of graphite antifriction products from non-ferrous metals.

Ash content, %, not more than = 2.0
Moisture content, %, not more than = 1.0
Iron content, %, not more than = 0.5
Chlorine ions, %, not more than = 0.1
The concentration of hydrogen ions in the water extract, pH = 6.5 – 10.0
The residue on the sieve, %:
– No. 016 K, not more than = 50
– No. 0063 K = 90 – 60
